Female fronted rock bands that play aggressive, sincere and memorable music are rather rare these days. It is with this fact in mind that the members of Portland, Oregon's Leaving the Scene have risen to the occasion and brought such music to people everywhere. With its mix of soaring vocals over intense, high-energy melodies, Leaving the Scene have established themselves as a forerunner in the establishment of Portland's unique, ever-growing music scene.

Comprised of singer Rayn McMahon, guitarists Jamie Dunphy and Jason Morris, bassist Casey Wilson, and drummer Dave Muldoon, this quintet have been establishing a name for themselves for just over two years now. Their unique style of rock is perfected in their most recent album. After two smaller releases, their debut full-length, Daytona Doe was recorded and released in early 2004. Like the illegitimate hard rock child of Blondie and the Foo Fighters, they mix the sincerity of emo, the angst of punk, the ferocity of hardcore with the catchy hooks of pop, and the brashness of old school rock, creating something for any music fan. Rayn's vocals are in top form, whether singing searing lyrics or whispering softer confessions into the ear of the listener. Complex guitar lines weave in and out of driving melodies and soaring choruses, washing the listener in a sea of crunching distortion and atmospheric composition. Under these raging chords Casey's melodic and pulsing bass creates a foothold in order to launch the songs into near epic proportions. The glue holding it all together is Dave's propulsive and dynamic drumming, where there is no end to the potent rhythms.
