Swift hail from the "Camel City" (Winston-Salem, NC) and formed in 1998, they quickly established themselves in the southeastern heavy music scene. With influences ranging from Foo Fighters and Radiohead to Pantera and Metallica, the band wanted to mesh the excitement and power of aggressive music and the beauty of melody and song structure as well as focus on their stage show to captivate from a visual standpoint. In 1999 they released their debut EP "Thoughts Are Thought," which had sold a stunning 2700 copies without the benefits of any distribution. This impressive amount of sales naturally garnered the attention of the major labels.
Labels including thelikes of MCA and Atlantic expressed an interest in signing Swift, but not wanting to sacrifice their creative control left Swift unable to sign away everything they had worked so hard to achieve. They decided to forge on, independently, determined to succeed and to achieve that success on their own terms. So after touring and promoting throughout 2000 and 2001, Swift decided it was time to work on a new record. Both Swift and Tribunal Records realized that their goals of achieving success on their own terms were identical, so a partnership was born.
Swift's Tribunal Records debut "Waging War" was simply a stunning release for an independent band. "Waging War" has received nothing but critical acclaim across the board. It is 11 tracks of melodic, yet aggressive rock with a dash of pop sensibility. Tribunal Records subsequently re-released "Thoughts are Thought" after the success of "Waging War". Swift has recently presented their first truly "new" material for the label, in the form of "A Communication Manual".
"A Communication Manual" is a necessary, bold, and exciting step in this band's career. It is easily their most accessible, but still remains loyal to what the fans have come to expect and love from this band. Its masterfully crafted melodic rock with the occasional "metal" breakdown tossed in at precisely the best moment possible to achieve maximum effect. Swift is currently preparing to promote and support their new EP CD release "A Communication Manual" released nationally on June 3rd through Lumberjack distribution. |
